George A. Zeitler

George and I met when we were members of the 338th Basic Combat Trainng unit based in Rock Island, Illinois, in 1963. He worked as an assistant to the unit's armorer, caring for the unit's M1 Garand 30-06 caliber rifles. He was proud to have qualified during basic training, as an EXPERT, with the rifle during trainfire, with 90 or more target hits out of 100 rounds fired.
