How sorry I am to hear that Jerry is no longer among us. He was my friend at Hall High as I worked in the garden, making his rounds, checking the doors, sometimes sharing a chuckle, or admonishing me for leaving a door open. He had a gentle and quiet manner that served to challenge me to see how I could get him to loosen up and crack a smile while he was on the job. He told me that he was a little embarrassed to accept a tomato or pepper from the garden if he did not do anything to deserve...

Dear Jim and the Lavery family
I was deeply saddened to hear of Gerry's passing, and regret that I was out of state and could not atten his services. Gerry and I grew up in our law enforcement careers together, and I will always remember his as a trusted friend and colleague. Please accept my sincere sympathy and kind thoughts for the family in this difficult time. Bill Keehner, Deputy Chief of Police (ret.), Rocky Hill Police

My condolences to the family of officer Lavery . Your kindness and smile will be missed at the Citgo station on Cedar St .. You will always be Officer Lavery to me .. one of the best . Michele Lawrence

My condolences to Gerry's family and friends. I am so sad to have lost him. I work at Hall and was lucky enough to have lunch with him a couple of years ago. Sometimes we just ate quietly, but more often I had the pleasure of hearing his stories. There is no one like him. We will miss him dearly.

The Lavery Family and the Stack Family were neighbors on Roberts Street in Newington. All the kids played together and visited each others homes. We are sorry to learn of the passing of Jerry. Sincerely, Larry, Martha and Jackie Stack

I give my condolences and sympathy to Kate and her family. It is tough losing a loved one and I hope they find peace during this difficult time.

I always enjoyed talking to Gerry, listening to his stories, and to his insights on working with our students. I will miss his presence at Hall High School dearly. With deepest sympathy,
Tricia Snodgrass

With deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the entire Lavery family. I was proud to have known Gerry, and thankfully his brother Peter, for years in Newington. I was always impressed with how quiet, professional and caring Gerry was. May his soul, and those of his predeceased family be at peace in Heaven. A true loss to so many.
Semper Fidelis,

I enjoyed listening to how proud Gerry was of his family. He will be sorely missed by his Hall Family.
