Gerald McCall Obituary

It is with deepest regrets the family of Gerald Allan McCall announces his death. On September 20th, our beloved husband, father, brother, son, and best friend closed his eyes, quieted his pain, and ascended to a beautiful place. His family and friends celebrate the infinite love, bravery, and compassion he shared through his work and throughout his life. Born in Sacramento to Vera Mochau and the late Gordon F. McCall. Jerry graduated McClatchy High School in 1968. He was a proud firefighter with the Carmichael and Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District for 30 years. His amazing sense of humor gained him the nickname of Benny Hill, a name for which he will be known in firehouses throughout Sacramento for years to come. Jerry loved nothing more than to share a fishing boat or a golf game with good friends. He was the adored husband of Anne McCall of Granite Bay and the devoted father of Katherine, John, Ted, and the late Jason McCall. He is also survived by brothers Gordon McCall and Galen McCall, both of Sacramento. Services will be held at The Lutheran Church of the Resurrection, 6365 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay, CA on Friday, October 7, at 12:00 p.m. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, a remembrance in Jerry's name may be made to Firefighters Burn Institute, 3101 Stockton Blvd, Sacramento CA 95820.

My brother played football with Gerald and told me about his passing. He asked if I knew him. I didn't know Gerald very well but I remember him. There are many people that I went to school with, but if I didn't know someone well I only remember them because they made an impression on me. I remember Gerald McCall for being a really nice person with a great smile and a great attitude. He made a positive impression on me. He stood out from the crowd and that says a lot. May his family and friends find peace and comfort during this sorrowful time.
