Gerald Ringley Obituary

Gerald Ringley

Gerald Kenneth Ringley, 83, beloved husband, peacefully passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024, at his home. Gerald was a devoted family man whose warmth, kindness, and sense of humor touched everyone who knew him. Gerald was well known for his loving and caring nature, as well as his generosity.

He was born in Leona Mines, VA to the late James Ringley and Euva Stanley. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Emeline Ringley who raised him.

Gerald graduated from Coeburn High School and later joined the United States Army. Gerald served as a Staff Sergeant from 1966-1968 in the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Broze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal.

Gerald was looking forward to celebrating 60 years of marriage to the love of his life, Jeanette Robinette Ringley next month. Gerald started his career with Kerns Bread in Coeburn, VA and then settled in Hickory, NC where he worked and retired as the District Manager.

Christmas was Geralds favorite time of year. Over the years, he gathered many decorations, not just for his own joy, but to share with the community. Gerald loved supporting Jeanette with Christmas events at Peoples Bank. He was known for his homemade ham biscuits, which became a cherished tradition at the bank.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanette; half-brothers, Leslie Stanley of Kill Devil Hills, NC and Larry Stanley of Homosassa, FL. He is also survived by his special niece, Debbie Hale of Coeburn, VA; his special friend, Roberta Clark, of FuQuay Varina, NC; sister-in-law, Dorothy Musick of Coeburn, VA; brothers-in-law, Larry Robinette of San Antonio, TX, and Ray Robinette of Ocean Isle, NC, and several nieces and nephews. Gerald's legacy of love and dedication will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.

Gerald will be deeply missed, but forever remembered with love and admiration.

A Memorial Service will be on Friday, December 27,2024 at 1 p.m. in the Chapel of Drum Funeral Home in Hickory. Reverend Fred Thompson will be officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory.

Gerald was a neighbor and friend for many years during the years we both lived in Woodridge. We enjoyed all the Christmas lights that gave many folks great pleasure.
