Dear Nancy, How in the world could we ever have imagined Gerald and Allen would both depart this life during the same week??? I/we were so thankful they were able to spend time together during the last days. They had some wonderful times together in their early years and that never left them! Love to you and the entire family. Shirley

My heart is sad today and my thoughts and prayers are with this family. I knew Gerald as both an adversary and a collegue. Believe me being a collegue was best. He had the uncanny ability to treat everyone with respect and dignity regardless of which side of the fence you were on. My life was definitely enriched by knowing this wonderful man.

My heart is deeply saddened at the loss of your husband, father, grandfather and my friend. I had the pleasure of knowing Gerald as an adversary and later as his collegue. Believe me being a collegue was best.He had the uncanny ability to show dignity and respect no matter which side you faced him on. My life was truly enriched by knowing this wonderful man!

My favorite memories with Mr Walter were at his duck camp catching alligators at night, sitting around his dining room table learning all the fishing spots in Venice and in interacting with him when growing up going to school with his kids. He is a tremendous spirit. He will be greatly missed. I am glad to say he is in an even better place. He has left a strong legacy in his children, grandchildren, his long term marriage and his reputation in the Baton Rouge community. I am thankful to have known him and learned from his example.
