Gerald Whelan Obituary
AGE: 59 • St. Augustine, FL., formerly of Freehold
Gerald Whelan passed away peacefully at his home in St. Augustine Florida on Monday, February 24, 2014 after a long illness. Gerry was the former owner of Whelan Pontiac-Buick of Freehold prior to his retirement. He is predeceased by his father George Whelan, his mother Jessie DeFelice and his nephew George J. Whelan. Gerry is survived by his children Rebecca Whelan, Shannon Whelan Green, Alexa Whelan, and Conner Whelan as well as many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers George Whelan and Dennis Whelan. Services will be private. Donations in Gerrys name can be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America online at www.ccfa.org.

I was thinking about the man today and was sad to find out that he left us. Mr. Whalen was a great person and had empathy for others. He appreciated your efforts and stood by you. May he rest peacefully.

I was just reminiscing about old times and searching the web and found that my old boss, Gerry had passed.
I was his F&I manager during the 80's and respected him very much. He was a good guy and a great boss. I'm so sorry for his passing, but I remember his medical problems way back when, and assume that had something to do with his death. Such a shame.
I guess Better late then never...REST IN PEACE, GERRY. It was good to know you and work for you.

I just wanted to say thank you to the men who gave me not only a job but a career. He saw things I didn't see in myself. I will remember him forever as one not only one of the best man that I ever worked for the best owners I ever work for but just one of the best human beings I've ever known.the world has just lost a truly great man. Sad to hear of Gerry,s passing. He gave me my first opportunity in the automobile business. He was my friend and became my boss and mentor. I will remember Gerry as a good man, may he rest in peace.

Gerry and I worked together many years ago. We spent so many enjoyable moments together both at work and with our families. I will miss him. My thoughts and prayers are with him and those who loved him.
