Gerard Zimmerman Obituary

ZIMMERMAN Gerard "Jerry" Zimmerman passed on Friday, July 13, 2012. Age 81 years. Son of the late Frederick Charles and Clare Theriot Zimmerman. Loving husband of Janet Brehm Zimmerman. Beloved father of Rhonda Zimmerman, Gerard "Rod" Zimmerman (Sara), Laura Zimmerman, Kenneth Breaux (Margaret), Wade Breaux, Jesse Breaux, Bruce Breaux, Brian Breaux (Josie), and the late Pamela Breaux. Grandfather of Courtney Worthy, Heather Conn (Robert), Alexandra Zimmerman, Gerard John Zimmerman III, Elizabeth Breaux, Alexis Breaux, Ian Breaux, Caleb Breaux, and great-grandfather of Audrey Conn and Zachary Conn. Brother of the late Fred Zimmerman and Gloria Hessler Zimmerman. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Jerry was involved with many organizations, Pete Fountain's Half Fast Walking Club, Paradise Business Man's Bowling League, and Best Friends Gathering. He was a graduate of SLU, class of '54, a member and past president of SLU Alumni, and Sigma-Tau Gamma Fraternity. He was recently honored as an athlete from the 1940-1950 group at SLU Track Complex. Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans, on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at 2:00PM. Interment will follow in Lake Lawn Park Mausoleum. A visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 10:00AM. The Southeastern Alumni Association was proud to have Jerry serve as a past president. It was great to see his smiling face and laugh at his quick wit at our Track Reunion this past April. Please know that he made Southeastern better by sharing of his time and talent with his alma mater.
