Geronimo Garza Obituary

SAN ANGELO Geronimo Garza was born July 20, 1935, in Alamo, Texas, as a second son to Isabel Garza. Geronimo and his mother had a close relationship, so much that she always asked for his opinion when making important decisions. Geronimo married Adelina Costilla on June 5, 1957, when he was 21 years of age. They were married for 54 years. Together they were blessed with two children, Gary Geronimo Garza Jr. and wife Michelle, of San Angelo, and a daughter, Monica Fitchett and husband Victor of Sterling City. As an added blessing to this union they have their grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Joshua, Katy and Alex and great-grandchildren Brianna, Kristianna, Nevaeh and Jayden. Geronimo loved his grandkids so much that no matter how tired he was, he was always ready to play cards or dominoes with them. Being a very talented self-taught musician, Geronimo could play the piano, guitar, harmonica and accordion. He could be often found serenading his grandkids as they played. By trade, Geronimo was a carpenter since the age of 17. When he was 24, he moved his family to Rosemead, CA., where he worked for Kay Bruner Co. for 17 years. It was about this time that he started to do remodeling as a side business. After living in California for 30 years, he again moved his family, this time to San Angelo, Texas, where he continued to do remodeling work. He also started helping his son, Gary in his flooring business where he worked alongside his grandson, Justin. Some of his best times in his life were helping his grandson, Jacob. Geronimo was greatly loved in life and will now be greatly missed. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9, at Gutierrez Funeral Chapels, 1002 N Oakes St. Interment will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
