Gilbert Allendorf Obituary

Dec 19, 1923 - April 5, 2012 BROKEN ARROW Gilbert Joseph Allendorf, formerly of Midwest City, OK, later residing in Broken Arrow, OK with his grandchildren, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2012, at home. He was born December 19, 1923, in Topeka, KS. Gilbert was a veteran of the United States Navy and served his country for four years during World War II. He had been retired for 27 years, but was formerly employed by Tinker Air Force Base. He is survived by two sons: John and wife Lanette Allendorf of Watauga, TX; and Mark and wife Penny Allendorf of Katy, TX; two grandsons: Tim and wife Kelly Allendorf of Broken Arrow, OK; and Michael Allendorf of Katy, TX; a granddaughter, Karen and husband Shane Griffith of Pryor, OK; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Rita Swalwell of Las Vegas, NV. He was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Helen Ann Krische-Allendorf, who passed away in 2003; and a daughter, Karen Sue Allendorf, who passed away in 1953. Gilbert will be truly missed by his family, but he leaves behind many treasured memories, including his love of sports, talking politics and a strong belief in family. Gilbert was a devout Catholic, an active member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City, OK for 47 years, and a 3rd Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus. He also had a wonderful extended family of friends, who helped enrich his life tremendously during retirement. A Vigil will be held Tuesday, April 10 at 6 p.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 11 at 10 a.m., also at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, with burial following at Arlington Memory Gardens.
