Gilbert Lane Sampson

I cried so much when you died because I know that it will never feel the same and it didn't.

A nurturing father who seemed to be a perfect mother as well. I just realized that Gilbert and his cousin Waltz were born on the same date, February 21, but five years apart. The passed away exactly five years apart. There must be something in God's plan when dear cousins have this kind of coincidence---. Both were Math teachers who inspired many young people. I know they are rejoicing now together.

Dr. Sampson was my professor while attending Pembroke University and was highly respected and well-liked by all the student body. The young generation of professors could have learned a thing or two on how to be a professor AND teacher to the students from Dr. Sampson. I fondly recall, Dr. Sampson would walk and down the aisles between the student's desk and help those struggling with the algebra or calculus problems. He truly cared about the students- it was evident from his smile the moment...

My prayers and thoughts are with the family. Dr Gilbert was great friend, He loved his family dearly.

I send my sincerest condolences to the Sampson family. After getting to know the Sampson family as a UNCP student, I am forever grateful for their love and dedication through my lifetime. Dr. Sampson will be surely missed.
