Not sure what to say?

I have been living in th San Francisco Bay Area for the past 18 years. My fond memories as a child growing up was shopping at 69th st with my mom in the 80's. . We would always grab a slice from Mario and Gino's. You can always see him tossing the pizza dough at the window. He was such a nice person! The first thing I told my brother when I came back to visit was I want a slice from Mario and Gino's. He told me what happened which deeply saddened me. 69th st will never be the same again. My...

I am absolutely heart-broken over the news. I only found out today because my husband's friend mentioned it to him. He knows Mario & Gino's pizza was my only favorite. My mother would take me to Gino's (in the 80s) as a reward for good grades. Needless to say, I was a good student. I remember smelling that delicious sauce in the air as the pizza bread baked in that large oven behind Gino. Even walking by with my mom and watching Gino toss the dough at the window was a fascination to me. As I...

Deepest sympathy to Gino's family. I had the pleasure of being in his company several times through his wife Grace, who passed away so young. Grace's aunt, Grace DiPrinzio, was like a mother to me, and it was through her that we all got together to celebrate happy occasions.
Every day going over to get the "E" bus, I would stop at his little window in the terminal and get pizza. These were the days back in late 60's.
Rest in peace.

A truly great man, hard working and cared about his customers, family and the community. I have been a customer of Gino's since the beginning, I was 6 when my Mom would take me and my brothers for a slice before going shopping on 69th Street. So much has changed since the early 70's, but the one thing that always remained the same was Gino's incredibly delicious pizza. Market Street will never be the same again without seeing Gino in the window, always with a ready smile and a wave as you...

Dear Franchi family,

My thoughts and prayers are with you. Gino was a great guy and will never be forgotten in our community. He made the BEST and most consistent pizza anywhere. I am 29 and moved away for a couple years and all I could think about was coming home and having one of Gino's pizza's. I feel I can speak for everyone around that we'll miss everything from his pizza to his smile and kindness!!! What a great guy!!! Gino we miss you!!!!!

I remember eating Mario & Gino's Pizza way back in my high school days ('77-'81). I've been living in California for 15 years now, but I still have fond memories of grabbing a slice or two whenever I was near the 69th Street Terminal.

Rest in Pizza, Gino!!!

God Bless.

Dear Franchi family,

My prayers are with you. Gino was a wonderful man and I loved talking with him as he made my lunch almost daily during the last three years. Upper Darby will not be the same without him. May his memory be eternal.

To the Family of Gino Franchi:
Sorry to hear of your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in the family. Gino was always friendly and always smiling. He was a wonderful person and a wonderful neighbor. We will really miss him!!

Dear Franchi Family,

I am so sorry for your loss. I too have been going to his place since it opened. My girlfriend and I went on our way home from Prendie to Yeadon. Each Good Friday my family and I would go for pizza. It was my routine on many Fridays before I would go shopping at Marshall's up the hill. He will be missed by everyone. He was a great man who was so generous to everyone who entered his place. I loved that he let anyone who may have been down on their luck...
