Glen Bos Obituary

Glen Bos
December 9, 1934 - April 4, 2021
Tacoma, Washington - On Easter 2021, Glen Bos passed away – fitting for such a strong Christian. Dad was 86 years young. The suddenness has been difficult.
Dad's defining quality was his empathy for people. Outgoing social, friendly and cared deeply about the people with whom he interacted. He wanted you happy and his personal mission was to get you to laugh.
He loved his family and doted on us. The three of us describe that he was ALWAYS there (early). If humanly possible he never missed a recital, game or event of any kind. The tradition continued with his grandkids as well. He constantly mentioned how proud he was of us and the families we are raising.
He loved sports of any kind. He was an avid golfer as long as his body allowed – he was thrilled with his two hole-in-ones. He loved to fish – there are fond memories of salmon fishing at the Washington coast and camping in the mountains searching for trout.
His loss to us and his sister is incalculable. We were blessed with the most amazing and thoughtful father. He was a good man--a lot of him remains in us and his friends. The Glen Bos "kindness" gene runs deep in all whom it touched. We see it clearly in our kids. He is sorely missed.
Glen Gary Bos was born in Toppenish, WA to Jake and Mae Bos of White Swan where he grew up on the family farm. He graduated from White Swan High School in 1953 and the College of Puget Sound in 1958, an education major. He was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. He taught in Dupont and in Tacoma at Stanley, Stewart and finally at Mt Tahoma High School as a reading specialist. He resided in Tacoma and Fox Island his entire adult life concluding with his residence at Narrows Glen. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Leo. He is survived by us -- his children; Michelle (Randy) Chopp of Gig Harbor, Mike (Carmen) Bos of Orondo, and Derek (Tracy) Bos of Ballard, grandchildren Michael Chopp, Jaclyn (Christian) Harkson, Jake Bos, Lindsey (Will) Chandler, Spencer and Nate Bos, two great granddaughters, Bo and Sailor Harkson and one granddaughter on the way, baby Chandler, beloved sister Judy Anders and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Plans are to hold a small private service this summer near his favorite fishing hole. In his remembrance, please give to something that gives you joy and a smile.

I first met Mr. Bos when I was in elementary school at Stanley in Tacoma. Years later We got reacquainted when I was a student at Mount Tahoma high school. I developed more of a friendship with Mr. Bos when I was at University of Washington. I have been a football season ticket holder for 37years this fall and would often see Mr. Bos and Mr. Nordi at husky away games. BYU and a Holiday Bowl to name a few. I will always have fond memories of of Glen and George on the road cheering on the Dawgs. My condolences to his family. God Bless you. Tony Powell

I met Glen through work at Narrows Glen! He was amazing, funny, kind and I could tell right away he was a teacher! I was extremely sad to hear of his passing and will forever remember and cherish memories of him! He made a huge impact on everyone he came in contact with! He was a very very special man! My deepest condolences to his family!

Mr. Bos and my Dad were fraternity brothers in college and I was lucky enough to have known him. The last time I saw Mr Bos was at the grocery store and he took the time to say “HI” and tell me that he still missed my Dad, who had passed years before. His smile and his heart were for all who knew him and his kind nature was felt by many. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Glen was one of my all time favorites. My wife and I quickly became friends with Glen while I coached Mike in high school basketball. He was a supportive parent who was a pleasure to have around the program. Although, we saw him seldom over the years, he was always excited to see us with a smile.
