Glen VanCleave Obituary

Glen VanCleave, age 67, of Lakeland, Tennessee passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 3, 2025. Glen was born in Memphis, TN, on July 9, 1957 to Jerry and Yvonne VanCleave. He is survived by his wife, Carol, of 32 years; two daughters, Tara and Shannon; sister Diane (Worth); brother Don (Rebecca); nephews, nieces; and his four legged grandchildren, Moose the horse, Smoke the cat, and Charlie the puppy. Glen graduated from Christian Brothers College with a degree in chemical engineering and Memphis State with a MBA. He worked at 3030 Jackson Avenue for 34 years as the company changed from Schering-Plough to Merck to Bayer. After retirement, Glen enjoyed time with his family, weekly lunches with friends, and going to the gym. Glen enjoyed all types of sports. He was a season ticket holder from day one of the Memphis Grizzlies, and an avid University of Tennessee sports fan, but would cheer on Mississippi State and The University of Memphis as long as they were not playing the Vols. Glen was a casual person that preferred jeans over a suit. As such, please join us on Saturday, March 15, anytime between two and four o'clock pm for a casual celebration of life. To honor Glen, feel free to wear Grizzlies or UT Vols attire. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Madonna Learning Center, 7007 Poplar Ave. Germantown, TN, 38138, where Glen's daughter, Shannon, has attended for many years. Glen will truly be missed. I met him at Schering-Plough in the mid eighties in the Q.C. laboratory. I had the pleasure of supervising Glen and his wife Carol during my tenure at Schering-Plough/Merck/Bayer. Glen was a great professional and possessed quite a sense of humor. My condolences to Carol and the family. Rest in peace my friend.
