Mr. Kelly was one of the nicest men that I knew growing up at St. Jerome's Catholic Grade School in North St. Louis County. He helped coach most of us young men and always brought Oranges to our soccer games for a halftime snack. A soft spoken man with a humorous side to him. He could always make Shawn and the rest of us kids laugh and have fun. He was a Proud Irishman and an avid sports fan. When I think of the years growing up in St. Jerome’s parish with The Kelly’s and Dougherty’s, I always remember St. Patrick’s Day at grade school. Not only was Kathy and Shawn dressed in green like the rest of the Irish kids but there was Glen and Jean at church …also sporting a touch of green and a shamrock or two.
