Gloria "Peg" Wright, 75 and known as "Southern Belle" by many, died Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2008, in a fire at her residence in McCandless. She was born Feb. 26, 1933, in Laurel, Miss., and was cared for by her cherished grandfather, Henry Lloyd Finch, a state senator. Peg was blessed to have married the love of her life, Jack R. Wright, in 1951. They were married for 49 years until his death July 3, 2000. Peg exhibited her Southern charm for many years by her addressing everyone with whom she would come in contact as either "Honey" or "Darling." She leaves behind a legacy of anecdotes and quips, all of which will be treasured. She loved to put life in a party but never hosted any. Peg will be remembered dearly by her loving children, Melanie (Bill) Steitz and Alan (Ronne) Wright; cherished grandchildren, David and James Affinito and Logan and Dillon Wright, and dear sister, Bettye Spradley, of Laurel. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and 2 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the H. P. BRANDT FUNERAL HOME, INC., 1032 Perry Highway, Ross, 412-364-4444. Interment is private. A memorial service will be at a time and day to be announced. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Peg's memory may be made to the North Hills Community Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 7801 Thompson Run Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15237.
