Gregg Merlino Obituary

Gregg Merlino

March 26, 1965 ~ May 24, 2017

Gregg was born March 26, 1965. He was a loving Father to his children, Brianna and Garett, the beloved son of Gary and Donna, and an adored brother to his sister, Dionne. His significant other in his life was Andrea Wood.

He was a nephew to Joan and Don Merlino, Lydia and Lynn Barcott, Deanna and Mel Elvebak and Larry Barcott. He had many cousins, and was preceded in death by his Grandparents, Ethel and Francis Barcott, and Anne and Mario Merlino.

He was passionate about his family, fishing, hunting, and a master at cooking and barbecuing. He attended Seattle Prep and JFK. He has worked for his Father and Uncle at Merlino Construction, since he was eight years old.

He was such a generous soul, and a caring friend to all. He gave his heart, time and love to so many. He was an independent, intuitive thinker that bought out his creative, mindful ways. It made him observe people, things, and spaces in a way unique to him that brought him close to others and to God.

He was always learning and growing as a human being, and never gave up. He mended relationships, met the love of his life and came full circle, back to the sweet son he always was. It will be so hard to live without him.

While at st. Peter's church this morning I realized that the mass was being offered for the repose of the soul of Greg Merlino. I was totally shocked when I realized that this was the same Greg Merlino who attended Holy Family School when I was the principal. I will never forget the kiss he gave me on the cheek when I handed him his eighth grade diploma. I will continue to pray for the repose of his soul and for his family.

I was so shocked to learn this today. Gregg was always a pleasure to be around and always so kind to me. I will miss him and I'll pray for his soul, his mom, dad and my friend Dionne

A beautiful service today for a very old friend. I grew up down the street from Gregg and used to make him cakes in my Easy Bake oven when we were in grade school. I remember trick-or-treating at his parents house on Halloween and my brother and I arriving so early one year that we interrupted their dinner. Instead of being annoyed, his gracious parents offered us a bite of their steak before handing out homemade caramel apples. A wonderful memory of a loving family. My prayers and heart are with you and yours during this difficult time.

To my friend I think back on all the adventures we went on. All the things we did. When you were hunting you were king of the jungle. When Fishing, king of the sea. Your theories about all things kept you young at heart. I will miss the innovation your mind was always at work. You treated my daughter like she was your own. You were there when I had hard times. I am resolute that you included me in your family for that I will never forget you. I hope you find peace my friend. We will do our best to look after that which is left. Goodby Gregg my true friend and brother in life.

Gregg, no words can describe the loss of loosing a beautiful soul this soon. You will always be remembered for your loving, caring self less nature. We always had a special bond that I will always cherish, family has always been the most important thing. Please watch over and protect the ones you love as we will always remember you!

Garrett and Brianna, your dad has set the foundation it is now your time to build off of that. My heart aches for you and your loss of a great man, a father, brother, son, partner, nephew and cousin.

I will never forget you and will miss you, forever!

I love you, Julie
