Not sure what to say?

Chad and I shared a lot of interests. He and I played football together in high school. We even dated the same gal. I knew at the age of 13 I was going to be a Marine. He asked me about the Marine Corps and of course I was in love with the Marine Corps and told him that you would be a great Marine. From the comments I've seen, He definitely was. I just wish I knew he was in Miramar because that was my duty station and sure wish I was able to see him. Chad had the greatest soul. He always had...

I met Greg when I joined the 3d MAW Band in Miramar. He always acted with the best interests of his Marines in mind. He was a Marine 100% of the time. He served to be an example to those with whom he served. The impression that he has left on me is that of a professional. He was never too proud to ask for guidance. He was never afraid to speak his mind. I looked to him as a role-model. Greg's influence on my life will never be forgotten.
I grew to know him as a friend as I transitioned...

Greg Weitzel was one of the first Marines I met when I checked into 29 Palms. He helped me get checked in on base and helped me adjust to being the "new guy" in the band. He was a good friend and a great Marine. He will be missed.

Chad was a dear friend in high school as we were band geeks together. We shared laughter, corny jokes, and a passion for music. I will always remember his huge vivacious grin, and I pity those who never had the fortune to meet him. My deepest sympathy to family and friends who have suffered this loss.
Love always,

I remember Chad being the "new kid" in my class at Tarver Elementary School. I remember with what love he played the trombone. I remember him juggling football and band and giving his all to both. I remember his excitement about joining the United States Marine Corps. I have been hearing about Chad through the "mom" phone tree since our graduation from high school and was shocked to hear the news this week.

It speaks highly of his character that even those who didn't know him...

I never met Chad but I knew him through the many stories that Linda and I shared about our children when I worked with her at the School District.
Linda and Dennis, my deepest sympathy. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

The Weitzel Family,
I've only met Chad a few times in school, so I didn't know him very well. But, what I did see in him was that he was a nice, smart and determined man. Dennis taught one or two of my classes (class of '98).
My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sincerely,
Darlene Scarpulla

I'll always remember Greg as the first person to befriend me once I arrived to 29 Palms. I'd have to say that he was one the nicest people I'll ever know. Regardless of what you ever needed he was there to help in anyway the he could, the world really could use more people like Greg.

Dennis was our son, Jeremy's math teacher in 1998. Although we never met Chad we are so saddened to hear about his death. Chad we're sure was the great and respected person he was due to his wonderful family. Our deepest sympathy is with you all, at this difficult time. May God bring you peace and comfort. We are so SORRY for your loss. The Webb's
