Failed to add my name to earlier message (lowly Airman)

Being stationed at BAFB in the early 60s, my job revolved around the alert crews where I met Col Nibouar. I was a lowely Airman, but he was always nice to me and we had a nice relationship. I very much respected him and just having read of his passing bring back the memories of those time. RIP Sir!

I want to say that the respect and love Nibby had for people was a treasure we will all miss. He treated everyone with equal friendship and caring. My prayers go to you Helen and your family at this very difficult time. The Patrol Unit and its members have lost a big part of the heart of the Unit. Please keep in contact with us.

Doug (my classmate all through public school) and Family: My memories of your dad stretch back to our boy scout days when your dad was one of the leaders. As I remember (and, it's been awhile), he was a compact, very fit man with the most booming, commanding voice ever. I imagine he could be a pretty strong, principled disciplinarian, but under that gruffness you knew was a man with a big heart who really cared about seeing young people develop. What a special man who doubtlessly leaves behind great legacies, stories and memories.
Blessings and thoughts are with you...

I remember seeing Colonel Nibouar several years ago in HEB/Koenig Ln. I walked up to him and asked him if I could help him make a selection of the many brands of a product he was looking at. He said I could but kept staring at me so that I finally said he might know me and he said "of course I do; tell me your name" with a big grin. When I told him I was an old neighbor from the time his kids were growing up on Westfield Dr. he gave me the bigest, warmest hug and thanked me for stopping to say hello. A very kind man.

What a wonderful guy you had for a husband, father, grandfather! We think of him often and we played golf with NIBBY, BILL, JIM and DICK for several years at Lions. We are retired military and loved their stories. I still tell people about the guys I played with at Lions and how patient they were with a female joining them. I must say my game got better with their help and patience. Nibby was a special friend and we will always remember him with love and very nice memories. I know God has his arms wrapped around him in Heaven! Our love and sympathy to his family. Shirley and Joe Walker

Hello Doug and Family,
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I remember how welcoming and gracious your parents were to me when I visited with you while we were in college.
You're in my prayers.
Love, Frankie

Helen, Doug, Marie, & family, I'm so sorry for you all but I'm so happy for Nibby because I believe that he's in a better place now. He had a heck of a run and even made it all the way to Veterans Day. To me he epitomized the “greatest generation” – “they were humble men who never bragged about what they'd been through. They were loyal, patriotic, and level-headed…” He was, as Jack Morris first described him to me in the late 70's, “a hale fellow, well met.” He always maintained a positive mental attitude and an upbeat demeanor. I never heard him utter a discouraging word. He seemed to know how to be both a leader and a follower – a rare combination, I attribute to his meteoric rise from private to Lt. Col. in the service. Personally, he was a mentor to me imparting his institutional knowledge of the inner workings of the Real Estate Commission staff after his second retirement. I tried to emulate him as we proctored the license examinations together early in my career. He taught me the ropes. I can almost still hear him on the the phone: “Nibouar here. Speak!” May “The Colonel” rest in peace.

I went to school with Grover, Jr and met Grover Sr while giving blood. Staff were crowded around him, laughing and enjoying their time with him. I quickly joined the group and loved hearing Mr. Nibouar's tales. Goodbye to a wonderful man who sacrificed for his country and gave so much to all of us.
