Such sadness when I learn of the passing of past acquaintances. I grew up in Ames, in fact, across the street from Otopaliks. When Brownie and Mary Jean were young and I was a younger yet, they had a white collie named, with the originality only children can bestow on their pets, "Whitey". I even have an oil painting of Brownie's home and yard complete with Whitey, painted by yet another neighbor, Dr. Wellhouse.
