Remembering Haidee Winter

In late September 1957, after two weeks at a San Antonio elementary school, we finally moved into military housing at Ft. Sam Houston. When I went to my 2nd grade class at Ft. Sam Elementary School I was blessed to get the best teacher I ever had in my whole life. My 2nd grade teacher from 57-58. We remained and pursued a lifelong friendship. She will be sorely missed. Greatest teacher I ever had!

My 2nd grade teacher from 57-58. We were friends all the years since. Greatest teacher I ever had! I will miss her dearly!

Kathleen and Raymond, I loved your mother dearly. We were friends at Jefferson High School and then got back in touch in later years. I am happy for her that she is now with Charlie. I never knew two people who were more in love.

We are deeply saddened to learn of Haidee's death. She was a gifted and inspired teacher who enriched the lives and early learning experiences of many young boys at San Antonio Academy where she taught second grade. Haidee was unfailingly kind, caring and encouraging to everyone she ever met. She will be dearly missed ~but never forgotten.
