Hal Sigmon
May 19, 1928 - September 17, 2025
Hal Lafayette Sigmon entered into the arms of God on Wednesday, September 17th, at the age of 97, surrounded by his family in Mechanicsburg, Pa. He was predeceased by his wife, Fannie Belle; his brother, Sid; and his sister, Mape.
Born in Catawba County, N.C., to Zella Bland Carpenter and Doerman Sidney Sigmon, Hal will always be remembered for his willingness to help others and his love of Jesus Christ and his teachings. He was an active, life-long member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Claremont, N.C., and his faith shaped his moral beliefs to always care for others.
He is survived by his two children, Bruce (Pam) Sigmon and Jonathan (Gayle) Sigmon; his grandchildren, Amanda (Brett) Sain, Rebecca (Usbaldo Sr) Huitron, Sydney (Andrew) Moss, Samuel Sigmon, Alicia Sigmon, and Lauren (Cory) Bissland; and his great-grandchildren, Usbaldo (Amber) Huitron, Dylan Huitron, Savanah Huitron, Jasmine Huitron, Leela Sain, Ping Jun Sain, Rory Sain, and Tea Sain.
Hal had many talents including upholstering furniture and fixing anything that was broken. He always enjoyed helping friends and neighbors to fix anything and everything and loved to volunteer at Church. His time and fellowship with the people of Saint Mark's Lutheran Church were always one of the highlights of his time.
He was a light in the world and will be dearly missed by anyone who has encountered his warm and helpful spirit. His smile and presence brightened the room. Although he is gone, his legacy continues in the love and compassion passed on to others.
The family will hold a memorial service on Sunday, November 9th at 1 p.m. at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Claremont, N.C. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Hal's life. Hal was an avid supporter of
American Red Cross, donating nearly 30 gallons of blood throughout his lifetime. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to
American Red Cross (

May he rest in peace, and may his memory forever live in our hearts and minds.
