Born: March 2, 1925 in Menno, South Dakota
Died: September 3, 2025 in Union, Illinois
Harold Hugo Haar, age 100, of Union, Illinois passed away on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. Harold was born on March 2, 1925 in Menno, South Dakota to Wilhelmine (Schramm) and Theodore Haar. Harold served in the United States Navy during WWII. It is then he met the love of his life, Dorothy Wynia. The couple were married for 73 years when she passed in 2018. Harold wore many hats throughout his career. He was raised and worked on his parents' family farm, and then came to Illinois and opened his own business as an excavator. He also held a real estate broker license. Harold is survived by his children, Jeannie Thomas and Jerald Haar; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, and his daughter, Deanna. A memorial visitation will be held for Harold on Monday, September 22 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Marengo-Union Funeral Home, 505 E. Grant Highway, Marengo, Illinois.
