We live in Texas, but think of Sheriff Lee often. He was one of many great and larger than life characters in the New Orleans Metro area. We are very appreciated of his dedication to the kids of Jefferson Parish, our daughter enjoyed her time as a Young Marine, a Program which Sheriff Lee strongly believed in and supported.

Sheriff Harry Lee, has left a legacy for all to remember and as I remember all the years I voted for him, I was never sorry for what he has become. He lived up to the promises to do his best and he did. He was straight forward and direct in what he said as I have done in my lifetime also. It always pays off to be like that.
Our family send our deepest sympathy to the Lee's Family. He will be deeply missed and we hope Sheriff Norman will do as good a job for what was thought to him from an honorable leader as Sheriff Lee was.
Our Love and Prayers,

I was saddened to learn of Harry's passing. I first met him in 1980 when I was working law enforcement in the New Orleans area. And had numerous interactions throughout my career until my transfer to the northern part of the state where I stayed until my retirement & subsequent move to Arizona. I had the uttmost respect & affection for Harry. Jefferson Parish & the state of Louisiana has lost a valuable asset. You, his family are in my thoughts & prayers. Godspeed Harry.

To the Lee Family, I was so sorry to hear about the death of Sheriff Lee. I moved away from New Orleans 30 years ago, but the name "Harry Lee" was etched in my mind. He was the greatest. I want to thank him for my daughter Cassie, and my grandson Murphy's life. During Katrina, if he had not come on the air and said what he did, my kids would be dead today. We owe him a lot, and I had planned on coming to see him in December to personally thank him. We loved him, but God loved him best. But we know that death is not the end. There is an Angel out there bareing the name of "Lee" and he is still protecting the people he left behind. God Bless you all.

My condolences to Sheriff Harry Lee's family, friends and the members of the JPSO. Surely there will be no one ever to replace him
There, also, will never be another Harry Lee. He truly went out as Frank Sinatra sang "I DID IT MY WAY". Harry, you told it like it was and did what was best for the parish no matter who you came across.

Newell Normand, you too are in my prayers as you follow in Sheriff Lee's footsteps. You know no one can fill his shoes but he had great trust and confidence in you so I believe you will do what is besst for the parish. Remember Harry will be watching you. He will be missed.

To the Lee Family ,
We send our love and prayers.
Years ago we were at Cracker Barrel in Baton Rouge. Mr Lee was there. We were there with our grandchildren Twin Girls. He commented about how beautiful one of the girls were. So we said there was another just like her. His reply was "Oh my twin girls, how beautiful" We were very impressed that he even noticed us. But he was that kind of person so great a man. We will truly miss him. Even though we live in Lafourche Parish. May God give you all the courage to keep going on in life. This is what He would want you to do.
All our love and prayers,

God must have needed a new Sheriff in Heaven very badly to call Harry home. God obviously needs him more than Jefferson Parish does.

Even though Harry is no longer with us physically, I know that his soul and spirit will always be with his beloved Jefferson Parish and its citizens.

Mrs. Lee, family, friends and employees of the late Honorable Harry Lee, please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

The repose of his soul will be prayed for at the Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes at Notre Dame University.

Don't grieve too long. Rejoice in the fact that all of us will be rejoined with him one day when we are called home.

Harry, please watch over us and your staff. Even though a new sheriff will soon be elected, you will always be # 1 in our hearts.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Wendy Wall

October 5, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

As a child, one of my fondest family memories is going to the "House of Lee" every Sunday after church for lunch. We were such regulars, we had our own round table where we shared our choices family style. There has never been a better Chinese restaurant - just like there will never be a better "Sheriff". I believe the wonderful tributes and honors of today will be exactly what he is deserving of. As his beloved parades take the streets in 2008 - I know everyone's heart will be saddened when he is not seen sitting high atop his famous "Lees-iana" float. But we have his wonderful momentos on our refrigerators to remind us of his love for the season. Thank You Sheriff Lee for defending us, protecting us, and most of all LOVING us!!!
