Nettleton- Hazel O. Morton Baulch died at her home on Sunday morning December 22, 2024 surrounded by her family. Hazel was born on January 1, 1943 to Lillie May Seymore Morton and Curtis Eugene Morton. She attended Nettleton High School and earned a cosmetology license which was a lifetime dream of hers. She worked for many years as a seamstress in the garment and furniture industries, later retiring from Peoplelounger Furniture in Nettleton. She was a member of Nettleton First Baptist Church and loved her church family. Hazel enjoyed traveling, gardening, reading mystery books, puzzles, shopping, camping, and spending time with her large family. Her yard in the springtime was magazine worthy. John Grisham was her favorite author and she has read almost all of his books. She was the biggest cheerleader for her grandchildren's sports. She was called "Granny" by not only her grandchildren but by many others. She supported the Nettleton Tigers with all her might and influenced so many by showing her love and support. If she knew you, she loved you, if you knew Granny, you loved Granny.
She is survived by her husband, James H. Baulch; one son, Phillip Baulch (Deana); two daughters, Sonya Leach (Jamie) and Rhonda Patterson (Robert) all of Nettleton. She had one grandson, Justin Baulch (Chelsea) of Columbus, seven granddaughters, Molly Anna Baulch, Korie Beth Leach Kent (Drew), Kylie Leach Garcia (Gauge), Jayla Patterson Cruber (Cameron), and Jamie Rose Patterson, all of Nettleton, Katie Leach Boland (Jami) of Brewer and Jessica Patterson Koon (Joseph) of Saltillo. Ten great grandchildren, Nolie Hayze Baulch-Shadburn, John Lawrence Baulch, Evie Mae Baulch, Jack Theron Baulch, Briggs Ray Boland, Brady Kate Boland, Ellis Anthony Koon, Emily Ann Koon, Baulch Andrew Kent and Bella Vinson. Two brothers, Gene and Kenny Morton and many nieces and nephews. Hazel had five special friends and care-givers who meant the world to her, Carolyn Shackelford, Billie Pounders, Donna Holley, Tina Henry, and Sandra Harris.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mabel Colburn Adams.
Pallbearers will be Justin Baulch, Jami Boland, Joseph Koon, Drew Kent, Cameron Cruber, and Gauge Garcia.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 26, 2024 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm and from 12:00-1:00 on Friday before the services at Nettleton First Baptist Church. Services will be Friday, December 27, 2024 at 1:00 pm, also at the church. Bro. Bradley Geno and Woody Magers will be officiating the services.
