Dear Jane: Mother Mitchell will certainly be missed, along with her bright green pickles and other canned vegetables. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls at this difficult time.

Before meeting Mother Mitchell I had the pleasure of tasting her green pickles and was hooked! Mother Mitchell was unique, always smiling and glad to see you. Loved wearing hats of all colors. Dear Jane, John and Carol and family, I am sorry for your loss of you mom and grandma. Many of Tolono ones will remember days of the grocery business. I always thought she was a good person and good to her mother. As a child I have fond memories of staying with my grandparents(Dolly Hoffman) in Monticello and we'd go visit the "girls" which was of course Helens mom and her sisters. Mrs. Mitchell was the best! I remember the Halloween Parties in the garage as a kid. When we would skip the last period P.E. class in high school to come over and study with Jane, she gave us all excuse slips to get back into class the next day. She will always have a fond spot in my heart.

Dear John and Carol, Please accept my condolences on the death of your Mom. So many of my Tolono memories center around your Mom and Dad and what lovely people they were ...your Mom will be missed.

Dear Mitchell Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Helen was such a lovely lady and will be missed by all who knew her. I have many great memories of her when my grandmother Lois Easton worked at the store when I was a kid. My thoughts and prayer are with you all.

I'm sorry to hear of her passing, glad that her grandaughters got to see her one last time. She was a genuinely good person.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Helen used to visit my mother in the Piatt County Nursing Home and mother enjoyed her visits so much. My mother has been gone since 1992.
