Dear Jane: Mother Mitchell will certainly be missed, along with her bright green pickles and other canned vegetables. My thoughts and prayers are with you and the girls at this difficult time.

Before meeting Mother Mitchell I had the pleasure of tasting her green pickles and was hooked! Mother Mitchell was unique, always smiling and glad to see you. Loved wearing hats of all colors. You could feel her brightness. Her children and grandchildren are her legacy and the world is brighter for it. You are missed Mother Mitchell - and we will see you again. Meet you by the rainbow! Love, Ro Shulenberger

Dear Jane, John and Carol and family, I am sorry for your loss of you mom and grandma. Many of Tolono ones will remember days of the grocery business. I always thought she was a good person and good to her mother. As a child I have fond memories of staying with my grandparents(Dolly Hoffman) in Monticello and we'd go visit the "girls" which was of course Helens mom and her sisters. Many times we'd see Helen there. Her example of caring was shown to you John and Jane, so you'd know how to care for her when she needed you. The rolls of parent and child seem to need to change as years go by. Jane it has been good to see you a couple of times recently at your work and you would update me about your mom. If you'd like to have lunch sometime to talk I'd like that. We are after all cousins down the line. Right? Your Friend, Sandy (Summers) Bragg

Mrs. Mitchell was the best! I remember the Halloween Parties in the garage as a kid. When we would skip the last period P.E. class in high school to come over and study with Jane, she gave us all excuse slips to get back into class the next day. She will always have a fond spot in my heart.

Dear Mitchell Family,
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Helen was such a lovely lady and will be missed by all who knew her. I have many great memories of her when my grandmother Lois Easton worked at the store when I was a kid. My thoughts and prayer are with you all.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Helen used to visit my mother in the Piatt County Nursing Home and mother enjoyed her visits so much. My mother has been gone since 1992.
