Her first marriage took place in Germany in 1957 to James Lacey. On March 12, 1979, she married George Harold Metzger.

Lacey of Azle, Texas, and Jesse L. (Ayndria) Lacey of Sulphur Springs, Ohio. She also leaves behind nine great-grandchildren - Carmen, Porter, and Nash Lacey; Chloe and Carson Lacey; Destin Lacey; and Daniel, Annabelle, and Grace Lacey.

In addition, Helena is survived by four stepchildren, Randall (Patricia) Metzger, Rebecca (Dave) Christenson, and Christina (David) Reffey, all of Bucyrus, Ohio, and Paul Metzger of New Haven, Indiana; eight step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; and seven nephews with their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Metzger; her parents; her grandson, Robert Jr. (B.J.) Lacey; and her sisters, Kathe (Artur) Zeisberg, Gunda (Hans) Stubenrauch, and Loni (Herbert) Gottlieb.

Helena completed eight years in an all-girls school and three years of trade school in Furth, Germany. She came to the United States in 1957 and proudly became a U.S. citizen in 1958. She was an Army wife for several years and later worked at North Electric in Galion, followed by I.T.T. Power Systems and Peco II, where she dedicated a combined 36 years of service. At one time, she also owned and operated Big Mama's Pizza in Bucyrus.

From 1974 to 1979, Helena served in the Ohio National Guard in Columbus, where she received an honorable discharge as a Specialist, Class 5.

Helena enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling, motorcycling, walking, bicycling, playing cards, and crocheting. She was of Evangelical Lutheran faith and was a member of the Liederkranz in Mansfield and the Moose Lodge in Bucyrus.

At Helena's request, she will be cremated, and no calling hours will be observed.

Helena and George were our neighbors for 17 years until recently. They were the first to welcome us to the neighborhood and we helped each other out from time to time. Such wonderful people and great neighbors.
