Henry HUNTER Obituary

HAMPTON - Henry M. Hunter, 78, passed away on Tuesday, April 27, 2010.
He was a native of Tampa, Fla., and had been a Hampton resident for many years. He served in the U.S. Army in WWII, the Korean Conflict, and retired in 1969, as a SSG after 20 years of service. Following his military career, he worked for Pentran, U.S. Postal Service, and Hampton City Schools Transportation. He was a member the Korean War Veterans, VVA Chapter 433 of Hampton, VFW Post 3219, the Tidewater German American Society, and the German American Volkssport Association.
He is survived by his wife, Anita R. Hunter; brothers, Wayne Hunter and Sam Fulwood; daughter, Angie Kama and husband, Joseph; grandchildren, Kathy Thompson and husband, Chad, Christy Varner and husband, Aaron, and Crystal Kama; great-grandchildren, Izzy and Lindsey Thompson, Adam and Hannah Varner. He is also survived by a son, Harold Hunter and wife, Chong, and their family; as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. tonight, April 30, 2010, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home. A service celebrating Henry's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 1, at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contribution may be made to your local affiliate of the American Cancer Society.

Mr. Hunter was a fellow bus driver that I will always remember as being a well respected co-worker and friend. I was saddened to hear about his passing. My prayers go out to the Hunter Family.
