Mr. Gray I remember always playing tennis in Highland Gardens a True Patriot of the Booker T Holmes, Highland Gardens neighborhood. A Mentor to all the males he came in contact with.

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Gray. May our loving God give you comfort during this time of great sorrow.

Mr. Gray, "Big Herb", was an inspiration to us as youth in our neighborhood. Whether it was as the Basketball Coach at Bladensburg or as a neighbor, older than us tennis players on the one neighborhood court we had in Seat Pleasant, he was truly an inspiration. Big Herb always had great advice for the young men and women pursuing sports and education. We tennis players were awed by his stamina on the tennis court and his ability to whip us at times. Viola and family I will miss those visits whenever my cousin came to Goochland. Conversations were long, but good and sometimes comical. You have our sympathy.

I remember Herb on the tennis courts with fondness. He was a great player and a wonderful soul. May he Rest In Peace and I will keep his family in my prayers.
