Not sure what to say?

I was one of Bro Herb's many nieces. Many in my family also "have the math gene" but my Uncle did the most with his. I was lucky enough to inherit copies of the books he wrote about mathematicians and his Marianist family. Coming up on 76, I am now looking for someone who might be interesting in inheriting these books.

Bro. Janson was one of my "BIG TIME" Math Teachers!! Going from Algebra to Calculus, with Geometry taken in the Summer at CCHS, under his celebrated tutelage, I was MORE than prepared for the rigors of Calculus & Physics (being a Pre-Med) at RICE UNIVERSITY where there are only "Whales" and no "Minnows" as students. It wasn't until I matriculated to Rice that I fully appreciated what this true "Man of God" did for me. God Bless you Brother and I know the Blessed Virgin personally escorted...

Still think of you often .. especially when I have a math problem that at 75 years young I still have problems. You inspired me to see the world.

If only Louis L'Amour knew what a fan you were of his books. You were the master of the overhead projector. If only we had iPhones to record the way you showed us how to work through problems. I always chuckled at how you referred to me as Disco Charlie. That was my side gig when hosting dances in the old gym. Rest in peace, Maestro.

Thank you God for allowing me to cross paths with Brother Herbert. He was the kind of man you enjoyed being with. He was a great teacher. Even when he was out of class he was a friend to all. Thank you, Brother Herbert, for making me enjoy your classes.

I will never forget his word,"Algebra develops your Brain" how true that is. I did not go to college until I was in the Army. I was able to attend different Universities and complete all courses that I enrolled .Thank you Brother Herbert and all the Brothers at Central for the excellent education I received,GOD BLESS THEM ALL.
CW4 Carl H. Bernal Class of 51

He was always there for me. I struggled in second year algebra so he would on his own time help after school. My name in school was Ray but there was another Ray in our class so he changed my name to Raymond since we both had the same last name. This was in 1956. My son also had the pleasure of having Brother Janson in his class and told him you are Raymond #2. A great loss to the To Central Catholic and the Society of Mary.

Thank you Algebra students for honoring my uncle and my dad's baby brother. As a kid living in his home town of Columbia IL .. we didn't see him too much. But did make it 2 times to Tecabuca camp. He loved his students and algebra .. hat gene kinda runs in the family.
After my grad degree, I worked on satellite constellation development and finally found a math he was not very familiar with .. radio wave propagation theory!
Thanks again from one of his many nieces.

He was a good teacher, very mild and a good friend. I remember him well in the early 1950s Central Catholic and St. Mary's University. He was one teacher that I have never forgotten. May he rest in peace.
