Not sure what to say?

8 years and the sting is just as painful as it was then. I miss you, Herbie. There's still a huge hole in my life that your friendship filled.

This is heartbreaking. I'm in town from Colorado and looked Herbert up to get some dinner at our favorite restaurant, Lebanese Taverna and saw his obituary. Herbert and I met at ROH back in the 80s then he went to onto another company, the name of which escapes me. I then went there too on his recommendation than we both met our respective wives there. My condolences to Lisa and the children and Herb's parent's and his brother Gordon and sister Edith.

I just learned of Herbert's passing and am saddened beyond words. As a former Partner and colleague at Booz Allen Hamilton, I knew him as man of tremendous integrity, compassion, and a drive for highest quality of life for all around him. The world has lost an exceptional human being. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. May he Rest In Peace.

Deb and I were deeply saddened by Herbert's passing. He was a true partner and great friend who was always upbeat and helpful. He also was an avid fisherman who graciously encouraged those of lesser skill during our annual fly fishing trips. Lastly, he was a man of courage and conviction -- whether in dealing with issues at work or when facing his own illness. Our deepest sympathies to the family. May his deep love for you be in your hearts and carry you in the years ahead.

Debbie and I are saddened by this news. Herbert was a "huge" breath of fresh air! Always positive, always smiling and always up for a fun time. I enjoyed our discussions - thoughtful, heartfelt and practical. I am honored to have been a member of Herbert's Pinehurst "Big Man" golf games.

Leslie and I are saddened. Our sympathies are extended to Lisa, Kate, and Christian. It was our fortune to meet Herbert by selling him our Upper Saranac Lake home. We were immediately friends, and in so many ways, from music to outdoor recreation, kindred spirits. Wish we had met many years earlier.

No words can express the loss of Herbert from my life. He was my dearest, and most loyal friend. I will relish the memories we amassed during his lifetime, and hope to share them with any who want to listen. For those fortuante enough to know him, Herb will always live in our hearts. May God bless Lisa, Kate, Christian, Annarose, Gordon, Edith and the rest of the clan MacArthur during this time, and may you find comfort in knowing that Herbert is most certainly resting with Him. Love and...

Everyone at the Adirondack Council was deeply saddened to learn of Herbert's passing. We will continue to look to Herbert's legacy for inspiration as we work to protect this place that he loved. On behalf of all of us at the Adirondack Council, I extend my deepest sympathy to the entire MacArthur family for your loss of a dear husband, father, sibling, and son. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and during this difficult time.

Dear MacArthur family, I had the pleasure of working with Herb through Rebuilding Together. He was a person of passion and commiment and touched all he came to know. He was a leader and had a vision that made a difference. He was kind and thoughtful. I learned much from him and am saddened that he has been taken from so many who were benefitted by his investment in them. I know this must be a difficult time for you and will keep you in my prayers. Know that he inspired so many and he...
