Herman Denby

He will always be missed.

One of my favorite singers. I wrote in his name to vote for him in the annual Playboy Poll back in the 60's and 70's.

First time I've done this or been invited to by friends of vocal group harmony. Would have loved to have met Herman. Always knew him by "Junior." Clearly, a wonderful talent. Sang, wrote and arranged. Thank you Herman Denby for the pleasure of your company.

I cannot estimate how many hours I have listened to and enjoyed "Junior's" beautiful voice especially on Dearest. The heavenly choir now has it's lead singer.

Thanks for the music. You and your group the Swallows paved the way for so many R&B vocal groups and were so far ahead of the music back in the day. You were a great writer and singer and one of my favorites. Saw you at UGHA in New Jersey on your return and you thrilled the crowd. Have every one of your records. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of one of the two surviving founding members of our group, Herman "Junior" Denby at the age of 82 in Ohio on July 14, 2013.
