Not sure what to say?

A true gentleman and a spectacular photographer! I first met Mr. Long in, I think, 1965 or 1966 while attending Bedford Senior High School in Temperance, MI. Then, when I became active in community theatre in Toledo, I encountered him again. He invited me to his fabulous home which, I believe, was on Collingwood Avenue, one of those truly grand old homes in the Old West End. The Blade was, indeed, blessed with his genius. And, it was an honor to know him.

Evelyn Powers, Bloomington,...

I had the wonderful opportunity to meet Mr. Long when the Blade did an article on my ministry on the Lake Erie Islands and he came to spend the weekend with me and shoot some pictures. I have always counted that one of my greatest encounters with a truly genuine gentlemen. I purchased the disc of music he did in honor of his wife! What a great tribute!

Herral Long was old school, a hard worker who didn't take any crap from authorities about his right to take pictures at a public property like Monroe County Airport after Ida plane crash. Part of a great crew of photogs at The Blade I'm proud to have known.

Doug and Family, My sympathy on the passing of Herral. It as nice spending time with you guys at the TOPO Reunion last October in Northern VA. May you be comforted by your happy memories. In sympathy, June Renton Harley

My memory of Herral will forever bring to mind the best things about Toledo and the Old West End.

Rest in peace, Herral. Your life is a testament to originality, artistry, and integrity of spirit. A fine legacy, indeed. I'll never forget your smile every time I saw you in the newsroom, even if you were rushing on deadline. My deepest condolences to the family.
