I so regret that I cannot attend Hilda's funeral service tomorrow! She and her husband were rich blessings in my life. I treasure Hilda for her honesty, genuineness, fun - and faith! Throughout my pastoral internship at College Lutheran Church and my much later service as a trustee of Roanoke College, I found Hilda to be a "light" of warmth, concern, and commitment. We would like to express our deep and heartfelt sympathy over the loss of dear Hilda. What a creative, hardworking, kind and "fun" person. When 26 years ago we moved next door to the Caldwells we quickly learned just how lucky we were. Warmth, help and good old fashion neighbors caring attitudes were shared with us. Her love for others and God's world (as seen in her beautiful flowers) was a tribute to the fine person Hilda was. She will be missed and remembered by many.
