CJ & Mary - Our prayers are with you and your family. CJ, you have been a true testimony to what a son's love for his mother should be over the past weeks and months. I know that Jesus will sustain you today and in the weeks to come.

I so regret that I cannot attend Hilda's funeral service tomorrow! She and her husband were rich blessings in my life. I treasure Hilda for her honesty, genuineness, fun - and faith! Throughout my pastoral internship at College Lutheran Church and my much later service as a trustee of Roanoke College, I found Hilda to be a "light" of warmth, concern, and commitment. I shall miss her terribly, along with her husband Clarence, but shall ever be thankful for the joy in faith and love that God gave me through her.

We would like to express our deep and heartfelt sympathy over the loss of dear Hilda. What a creative, hardworking, kind and "fun" person. When 26 years ago we moved next door to the Caldwells we quickly learned just how lucky we were. Warmth, help and good old fashion neighbors caring attitudes were shared with us. Her love for others and God's world (as seen in her beautiful flowers) was a tribute to the fine person Hilda was. She will be missed and remembered by many.

Hilda was a fine lady who always made me glad to have crossed paths with her. She even cheerfully endured my struggling attempts to play bridge, bless her heart. The community will miss her! -- Peace to your family, blessings, Emily
