HOWARD DENNEY Obituary

HOWARD DALTON DENNEY, 88, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend died peacefully on Monday, February 1, 2010, in Pasadena, Texas.Dalton touched the lives of many people in his 88 years, and he will be deeply missed. He was an active member of Peace Lutheran Church, having served as Building Committee Chair for the present Sanctuary. He was a lifelong sportsman with a love for fast pitch softball, golf, hunting, and fishing.Dalton is survived by one daughter, Cindy Miller; two sons, Bill Denney and wife Carla, Wayne Denney and wife Christi; three sisters, Helen Walker, Mary Hendrickson and husband Bob, Geraldine Bradberry; six grandchildren, Robert Denney and wife Maria, Kelley Denney Peacock and husband Nick, Russell Denney and wife Tina, Shelley Denney Cano and husband Andy, Ryan Denney, Sara Miller, Amy Miller Urbanek and husband Bryntin, Rebecca Miller Boaz and husband Jesse; and nine great grandchildren.Dalton is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Alice; son-in-law, Gary Miller; and one sister, LaVelle Baker.Visitation will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2010, 5:00-7:00 PM at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Peace Lutheran Church, 6435 Fairmont Parkway, Pasadena, Texas 77505.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Peace Lutheran Building Fund.www.grandviewfunerals.com

It is truly an honor to have been called a friend by Dalton. I along with my entire family are saddened at his passing. Dalton was a close friend of my Dad and Mom, he was also my most remembered coach during my years in baseball. Dalton will be remembered as a go-to person for any reason, be it a hitting lesson or a life crisis. After I moved to Lake Livingston Dalton was given a key to my home and it was always a pleasure to come home from work and find Dalton waiting on the back porch watching the lake and waiting for the start of the nightly Astro's game, a shared dinner and tall fish tales. Dalton was a true man among men who always held out his hand and heart to help others. The fish frys at my home for the Men of Peace Lutheran Brotherhood will be treasured moments for everyone involved. May God be with his family during this time.
