Not sure what to say?

To Huey's family and friends; Hueys friendly face and demeanor welcomed my wife and I into a Boating Safety class which ultimately led to my joining of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Our friendship continued over the years and we worked side by side in PE classes and boat operations. He did his first and last patrols as crew for me, the last of which was the Sail of the Constitution. Huey was noted for his sly wit and I had many a hard time trying to keep a straight face when he passed me a note...

As a member of the USCG AUX. I wanted to let the family know our thoughts and prayers are with them.

A life dedicated to service is a full life. Our Coast Guard Auxiliarists do so much for our nation and help the Coast Guard stay connected to the community. I wish their enthusiasm and dedication were contagious, then I'd walk them through the barracks and halls of all CG accession points. He will be missed.

Arn M. Heggers, CAPT, USCG (Ret.)

Hugh was one of the first people I met in the Auxiliary. Enjoyed the time we spent assisting with Public Education Classes. He will be missed.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Mr. McLaughlin. From a fellow Auxiliarist (Flotilla 28)

I have been a friend of Hugh ever since he joined the Auxillary. We have spent many a patrol together and class room time. I will miss him when I go to foxwoods and see him at the slot machines.

It's a sad day for the Auxiliary with the passing of Hughie. He was a special member.

I had the pleasure of working with Hugh as a USCG Auxiliarist. He & I were in the same training class for our Operations Qualifications. I crewed with him many times. I have never known a more loyal, or harder working Auxiliarist, than Hugh. He will be sorely missed.
