Not sure what to say?

Hugo was always kind, considerate, patient, and loving. What a joy to share our experience in New York we can all hope to reserve what are memories of Hugo can be reflected in our own lives. On a daily basis Edith was a gift to Hugo, and the both of them to all of us.

I posted a memory last year, and I appreciate this reminder that it has been a year. I only knew Hugo during his Washington & Lee days, but even then the qualities others have written about were clear: Hugo was so easy to be around, so un-full of himself, so interested in others. And let's not forget, he had a great sense of humor -- dry and observant and very witty. He was, after all, Editor of the university's humor magazine.

I just learned of Hugo's passing from a booklet sent by Washington & Lee. He was Editor of The Southern Collegian, W&L's humor magazine at the time, which the university saw fit to get rid of year later, but his sense of humor was there in the magazine and he mentored me so well that I was able to follow him as Editor, though I never could live up to his fabulous dry wit. I love the fact that he went on to work within non-profits his whole life, as have I. He was a truly wonderful person. --...

Hugo was a good friend and colleague from the day we both started working at the Population Council in 1968. Hugo was funny, fun, competent, hard-working and focused on rights based population policies and delivering family planning services. He directed the Asian program where I had worked beginning in 1962.
I cherish the love, admiration and fond memories. Edie condolences to you and your family

Please except my deepest sympathies to you and your family at this time of grieving.

One of the greatest joys of returning to St. Roman each summer was reuniting with Hugo and Edie. Handsome and happy, humble and easy to be around, any occasion was improved with his company. Our children adored him.
My heart goes out to the entire family but especially to you Edie. Lots of love from The Wolpes.

Inspiring story of living for a strong purpose while holding true to his values. Our sincere condolences to the Family.
