Ines Hamlin Obituary

Ines Hamlin
1942 - 2025
Ines Hamlin, a longtime (54-year) resident of Stamford, CT, passed away on September 6, 2025. She was 83.
Born in Bogota, Colombia, she was the daughter of Campo Elias Ardila Mosquera and Carmencita Cardozo de Ardila. She attended Marycrest College, in Iowa, and went on to receive her Bachelors of General Studies from the University of Connecticut. She furthered her education to receive her Masters of Science in Counseling from the University of Bridgeport. Prior to settling in Connecticut, she worked for the American Embassy in both Bogota, Colombia, and Caracas, Venezuela. She then came to New York City, where she worked for the Colombian Coffee Federation. After moving to Connecticut and starting a family, she was employed at the University of Connecticut and worked as the Program Coordinator for the Executive MBA. With her Masters, she concluded her career in what she did best and where she could make the most impact, as a Family Therapist, at the Stamford Counseling Center. Her true gift was in helping others.
For many years, she belonged to St. Leo's Parish, in Stamford, and was a member of both the Stamford Senior Center and the Tully Center. She was a volunteer within the community and donated to many charities during her lifetime, usually anonymously. She was a world traveler, a prolific reader, an avid UCONN Huskies basketball fan, but nothing gave her more joy than spending time with her family and being surrounded by her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was a deeply spiritual and truly magnificent woman, who will be remembered most for her wisdom, kindness and unconditional love.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Richard Hamlin, son, John Hamlin (wife Patricia Hamlin), daughter, Michelle Butler (fiancé, Benjamin Ross), and grandchildren, Lexi Butler, Matthew Hamlin, William Butler, Jake Hamlin, and Eva Hamlin. She was predeceased by her brother, Gabriel Eduardo Ardila Cardozo, and her sister, Noni Ardila Cardozo. She is survived by four remaining siblings, Campo Elias Ardila Cardozo, Maria Olga Ardila Ellison, Fernando Ardila Cardozo, and Maria Mercedes Ardila de Montana. She also has many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
A Wake will be held with calling hours on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 4-7 p.m. at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, at 2900 Summer Street, in Stamford, CT. A remembrance service will begin at 6:15 p.m. and is open to family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to The American Cancer Society.
