Family-Placed Death Notice

SEEBOHM, Ingeborg INGEBORG SEEBOHM Our devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away the evening of April 25, 2013 at age 77 following heart surgery. Inge was a child in Stade, Germany during WWII. She received a degree in early childhood education and taught kindergarten in Germany before immigrating to NYC in her early 20's to work as a governess for several prominent NYC families. She met her husband Gerfried Seebohm in NYC. They resided in NJ before moving to Atlanta in 1965 with their three young children. They had a very loving and devoted marriage. Inge became a U.S. citizen in 1974, and became active in the real estate industry with Gerfried. Inge and Gerfried enjoyed traveling, but had a special love for the southwestern US and their Hilton Head Beach Property. Inge loved art, nature, gardening, music, culture, reading, and cooking. She could be found any sunny day in her garden planting, pruning and watching all the wonderful wildlife, especially the owls that nested in her owl houses. Inge was a member of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Begonia Society and American Hydrangea Society. She had a particular passion for orchids and hydrangeas. Her children, grandchildren and friends remember her for her selfless and quiet sensitivity to the feelings and needs of others, her wonderful 'wacky' sense of humor, and her keen appreciation for music, art and the natural beauty that surrounded her. Her late husband Gerfried Seebohm died in 1993. She is survived by her three children, Kirsten Shirken and husband Brian, Santa Monica CA; Derrick Seebohm, Alpharetta GA; and, Elke DuPree and husband Linc, Alpharetta GA; and 9 grandchildren, Benjamin and Zoe Shirken, Patrick, Kyle, Alec, and Jack Seebohm, and Tyler, Nicholas and Annika DuPree. Inge spent the last fifteen years in a happy and caring relationship with her loving companion Donald Ross. The Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 3rd from 7 - 9pm at their family home. Donations (in lieu of flowers) can be made to the Atlanta Botanical Garden.
