Dearest Mrs. Hogue,

Dr. Hogue was truly a special person in my life. I loved him dearly, much like a father. I have a photo of us in the airport on our way to Kansas City, MO for SIFE Nationals with a keychain we had purchased for him which read: "#1 Dad". He was more than an advisor and a mentor to me... he was a dear friend and I am terribly saddened by the loss of our beloved Dr. Hogue. He has contributed beyond measure to UNC Charlotte, the Charlotte community, SIFE, the Business school and beyond. More importantly, he has touched the lives of countless people including myself. Please know that he spoke of you and your relationship with the highest regard, a sparkle in his eye, and an enormous grin across his face. Additionally, please know that all of our thoughts and prayers are with you and we truly empathize with you for your loss. Dr. Hogue is a great man and his spirit will continue to live on through all of us whom love him so dearly. We love you Dad, may you find peace and eternal happiness. We love you!

I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Hogue's death. I was a student of his and was able to work with him in the honors program about five years ago. He helped me a great deal during my transition and stay at UNCC. I know that he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was a great example and leader, and the world definitely needs more people like him. You are all in my thoughts and prayers. I hope that you will find great comfort in knowing that he touched the lives of so many while he was here.

We are deeply saddened by your loss. We only met your husband one time on campus when we went to orientation with Mara. He was so kind and considerate, he definitely stood out among all the others. We just wanted you to know that you are in our prayers. Mara and the other students will surely feel the loss. Sympathy and Prayers, Johnny and Mary Lynn Goins

I was deeply sadden to learn of Jack's passing. He was a wonderful colleague...so thoughtful and willing to help! Jack was a student advocate who devoted much of his time and energy to enhancing students' college experience. Students and administrators alike sought Jack's advice and counsel...he will be missed! Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you (Jack's family, friends and colleagues) during this most difficult time.

Sincerely,

Cathy Sanders (UNC Charlotte)
