Not sure what to say?

Esther, I just learned that Jim is gone. What a loss.

He and were classmates and casual acquaintances at Duke, but in law school we were very close. I was with him in the high speed highway crash north of Charlottesville in '66, and I spent a lot of time playing rat league basketball with him. I remember meeting you in Charlottesville. Jim Gillespie mentioned the summer of '66 when he, your Jim, and I shared a shack on Pacific Ave in Virginia Beach.

Esther and family, Please know that Jim had many friends and admirers in our legal community; we mourn his loss with you. I consider myself privileged to have worked with him on many cases. Dear Esther, I am writing with sadness in my heart. Jim was a dear friend through three years of law school and a couple of summers we lived together when Jim was working for his uncle Dick. I was so honored when Jim asked to be best man at your wedding. I have so many happy memories of Jim; sweating out the bar exam together, pickup basketball, Jims dry sense of humor. I could go on. Jim was a good person. My prayers are with you and your family.

Dear Esther and family, Eileen joins me in expressing our deepest sympathies at the your loss of your husband Jim. We so enjoyed your prize winning raggedy Ann and Andy costumes at the Halloween party last fall! You and Jim made a handsome couple ,and we were pleased to know you both. I particularly enjoyed Jim at the PACC gym and he was always quick to smile. May the pain of your loss eventually heal with time. Sincerely, Bill and Eileen
