Jim's true purpose in life was his ability to connect with others. He loved bringing people together whether for business, pleasure and especially for learning. His contributions to the the Institute of Human Origins and his dear friend Donald Johanson were profound. He ignited so many possibilities through his love of connecting people together through the arts. Jim was the definition of the old guard. Always a gentleman, always thoughtful, always encouraging and always willing to share his time. I feel so lucky to have had him as a friend and mentor. Jim, you will be missed but I hope you have found peace.

Jim was directly responsible for opening a door that brought to my wife and me the greatest friends and the grandest times of our lives. His intellectual curiosity and commitment to forward the social interaction that makes us human will be sorely missed.
