James, a great man and friend!!!

Dear Lois,Diane,Joyce and Carol,
I am so sorry to hear about Jimmy. I remember so well all the fun times at the beach. Sadly, time passes all to quickly. At least we have the special memories of all that we did and shared. Deepest sympathy to all of you.

To all of the Duquin family:

Jim was an important person to me and so many of us who had the pleasure to know him and work with him at Ashland Chemical. Jim was always full of life, fun and an inspiration to us all. I will be forever greatful to Jim and cherish the laughs we had together and the numerous golf games we enjoyed. I too am sorry that he did not have a chance to enjoy his retirement to the fullest. To the Duquin Family
I first met Jim when I joined Ashland in 1990 and always found Jim to be interested and approachable whenever I had reason to talk to him. He was a great friend to many and was responsible for the growth of many careers at Ashland, mine included. The strength of his personallity and the wisdom of his leadership were great examples for us all. My prayers are with you all in this time of mourning, and celebration of a life lived to the fullest.

Through Jim, my company (ACT,Inc.) was bought by Ashland. He also was key in forming my new company, which needed Ashland's support to get off the ground. Jim was one of the most comfortable people with whom I have had the pleasure to work. He was unpretentious and down to earth, plus an overall intelligent guy who dis-armed you with his demeanor. He richly deserved a long and happy retirement, and I will think of him often.

I worked for & with Jim for 15 years within the Ashland family, which is exactly the description I use in my association with Duke.I regret that he was not allowed to enjoy the many years of retirement that he deserved. My life was enriched knowing Jim. My wife Helen, & I extend heartfelt condolence. "Duke" will always be tall in the saddle.

I am sorry I will miss the Buffalo service but send my love and thoughts to all my family who will be there. 
Connie,you did a great job caring for Jim and never feel that you didn't do enough. We all loved hearing your updates, and you were great with the medical terminology and staying on top of everything. You gave the best care possible and we knew he got all the help he could thanks to your efforts.
