James M. Duross Jr., 85, passed away quietly at his home on April 11, 2012.
His family was most important to him. He served in the Navy during World War II as a seaman 1stÊclass. He is a retired U.S. Marshal who came to live permanently in St. Augustine, Fla., in 1988.

Butts...how do I say goodbye to the one cousin I considered "my brother". We lost too many years and I had hoped to have more with you than I did after we found each other. Dear Duross family, I'm so sorry for your loss. I knew Mr. Duross for many years, having helped him with his pharmacy needs, and I just loved to hear his U.S. Marshall stories. I hope it is some comfort to you to know that he also spoke often of his love for his family. What a terrific guy; while I am thankful that he no longer suffers, he will be greatly missed.

Dear Peg and children, Jim was a good man, great cop and wonderful friend. I will always remember one of his many slogans: "A good cop is never cold, wet or hungry!"
