I worked with Dr. Hefner when I was serving as Co-Chair of the National Alliance for Business Cluster program at Morehouse, under Dr.Gloster, in the late 70's. Together we started a lecture program to bring CEO's and senior executives to campus. Several of our lecturers were from the Insurance industry, and Jim soon leveraged that into an endowed chair and a major in Insurance. Dr. James Hefner was a close friend and colleague of mine for numerous years. He was truly a phenomenal educator whose contributions to Tennessee State University and the nation will be forever etched in the annals of higher education.

With his diligence, determination, dedication, and unyielding quest for excellence and love for Tennessee State University, he turned this great institution into a shining star in the State of Tennessee and the United States of America.
