James Honeycutt Obituary
February 11, 1938 - January 13, 2023
James Victor Honeycutt Sr., 84, of China Grove, passed away Friday, Jan. 13, 2023, at Novant Health – Glen A. Kiser Hospice House.
Born in Cabarrus County, Feb. 11, 1938, he was the son of the late Charles Honeycutt and Berlie Silmon Honeycutt. In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Shirley Pethel Honeycutt, who passed away Jan. 24, 2010; son, James Honeycutt Jr.; brother, Jerry Honeycutt; three sisters, Daphne Plott, Jane Krimmenger and Audrey Hall; and granddaughter, Taylor Honeycutt.
Mr. Honeycutt served in the U.S. Air Force for 8 years and retired from Hoechst-Celanese after 34 years of service as an electrician.
He was a member of Lutheran Chapel Church where he had served on various committees and the church council for many years. Some of his favorite things in life were hunting and fishing, supporting military activities and watching his grandson play baseball.
Those left to cherish his memory are his son and daughter-in-law, Craig and Leslie Honeycutt; grandson, Matthew and wife, Morgan Honeycutt; great-grandson, Cade Honeycutt; brother, David Honeycutt; and sister, Catherine Morris. He is also survived by one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.
The family will receive friends Monday, Jan. 16, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Linn-Honeycutt Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 10:30 a.m., at Lutheran Chapel Church with the Rev. John Tucker officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to DaVita Dialysis of North Kannapolis, 1607 N Main St., Kannapolis, NC 28081.
