James Huddleston Obituary

James Eldon Huddleston
March 13, 1937 - May 11, 2021
Fort Worth, Texas - James was born in Weatherford, TX on March 13, 1937 to Lela Pickard and T.D. Huddleston.
He graduated from R.L. Paschal High School and attended TCU graduating with a degree in Geology. He was a banker at Fort Worth National Bank and retired when it transitioned to Chase Bank. After retirement, he worked at the Amon Carter Museum, Trinity Terrace retirement community, and volunteered in the Harris Hospital Southwest mailroom.
He loved planning and taking family vacations and talking on his CB radio on the road with the handle "Mr. Magoo." James was also known as a serious negotiator being sought after by family and friends when they considered large purchases—especially cars. He loved getting a good deal! He was meticulous with his cars and enjoyed restoring several classic Volkswagens.
James met his second wife, Peggy, at WPS (Widowed Persons Service) of Tarrant County and they were happily married for 14 years. They loved to have their daily shot glass of Dr. Pepper at 3pm sharp! They enjoyed spending time with their church family at Arborlawn United Methodist Church.
James is survived by his wife Peggy; daughter Leigh Ann Gutierrez (Julian); son Drew Huddleston (Gary); grandson Cameron Gutierrez; stepson Keith Jones, stepdaughters Dara Jones and Cara Hennen (John); and many step grandchildren and step greatgrandchildren.
There will be a family burial Saturday morning, May 15, at 10 am at Laurel Land. There is also a memorial service at Arborlawn United Methodist Church at 1 pm, Saturday, May 15.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to The Arborlawn United Methodist Church Foundation.

To Leigh Ann and Drew, I am sorry for the passing of your dad. James was a gentle soul and will be missed by many. May the memories forever bring a smile to your face and warmth to your heart.

To the rest of James and Beverly's (his first wife) family, Marilyn, Benny, Phil, Patti, Glenda, Laurie and Mark, I am keeping all of you in my prayers. I can't remember one Thanksgiving or holiday with everyone together that I didn't leave exhausted from all the laughter and full from all the delicious food! What I cherish most about James is his story telling. He could capture your attention and have everyone laughing along the way. Some of the funniest stories involved the Gillentine Aunts and uncles, Granny, and the cousins!!
May the Lord give you all peace and comfort during this time.
Love, Deborah
