It is with sad hearts that we offer our deepest condolences to the Kallen family. Mr. Kallen was a great man who was always there for us while growing up, whether it was a carptet job where we needed the money more than he needed the help or just taking the time to talk to us as if we were his own sons. I will always cherrish those times and I hope that one day I will become that type of father to my childrens friends.

With much love,

The Opperman Family

My thoughts and prayers are with the Kallen family today. Uncle Jim had the most interesting life. His love for his children and his wife Ruth was evident in every breath he took. He supported the passions of his children by taking an active role in their upbringing and instilling his strength of character and lust for life in them.

When my father died, Uncle Jim went out of his way to make sure that my mother, his sister-in-law had what she needed. He would make trips to her home just to check on her citing he was in the area when he lived forty miles away.

While I was not close with him in adulthood, I look to his passion for life, love of his family and devotion to his wife Ruth as inspiration.

Rest in peace, Jim Kallen. Your humor and easy laugh will be missed. I picture you in heaven with my father taking every opportunity to poke fun at the Flaherty sisters and their unique application of the English language.
