In loving memory of Dr. James E. Lang, who unexpectedly, but peacefully, passed away at the age of 64 on January 2, 2024. Born on May 18, 1959 in Cincinnati, he was the beloved son of Mary Lou and the late James F. Lang. Big brother to Cathy Lang.
James graduated from St. Xavier High School, continued his education at Xavier University, and later earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He was a dedicated physician specializing in internal medicine and a volunteer faculty member at the University of Cincinnati for decades, where students named him their favorite preceptor. Adored by his patients, James was always sure to feel their gratitude through the occasional gifts of lemon and key lime pies. James also served as the Associate Director of the Cholesterol Center. A prolific contributor to his field, James leaves behind a lasting legacy of impactful medical research that has enriched our understanding of healthcare and wellness. He generously devoted his time as a volunteer team physician for Cape and All Saints football.
He and his high school sweetheart, Jackie (née Kegley) Lang celebrated 35 years of marriage and shared 47 beautiful years together. More than anything else, she was the love of his life. James leaves behind a large and loving family. He is survived by his children Rachel (Aaron Rosenberg), Victoria (Stephen Baker), Rebecca (Ryan Donnelly), Stephanie (Michael Brooks), and Michael Lang, his grandchild Theodore Baker, and future grandchildren. He will also be missed by his cat companion, Thor.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, James actively participated in his children's lives. He took joy in showing his children the wonders of the world, creating lasting memories through shared adventures. Whether coaching teams, cheering with enthusiasm at a game or performance, or volunteering at science fairs or the Boy Scouts, James exemplified a hands-on and supportive approach to parenting. His presence at father-daughter dances was a cherished tradition. It should also be noted, James’ passion for the Bengals created a household where game days were family celebrations.
The family kindly requests donations be made to Hospice of Cincinnati in honor of James’ memory. May his legacy of love, compassion, and service live on in the hearts of those he touched.
Please send your memories, stories, and pictures of Dr. Lang to "[email protected]". These memories will be cherished by his family in the years to come.
Visitation will take place Friday, January 12th, 2024, from 4:00p.m.- 7:00p.m., at Mihovk-Rosenacker Funeral Home, 10211 Plainfield Rd. Mass of Christian Burial to occur Saturday, January 13th, 2024, at 11:00a.m. at Our Lady of the Rosary, 17 Farragut Rd, Cincinnati OH 45218.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family of Dr. James E. Lang. I am only now hearing of his passing as I take on the care of one of his patients. James and I started our practices around the same time many years ago. I have always respected him for his business acumen in maintaining his own practice for so many years. He will be sorely missed.

I only just met Dr. Lang as a first time patient and as an RN,MSN I was so impressed by his knowledge and compassion. I read all of the beautiful remembrances written here and I pray they provide comfort for this amazing man's wife, mother, children and friends. May you rest in peace Dr. Lang after a life well lived...you touched the lives of so many.

I just found out about this yesterday, 2/12/24. I am beyond shocked. I was one of his first patients and had been seeing him for the last 36+ years. Now comes the hard part of finding a replacement. Thank you for everything Dr Lang. I wouldn't be alive today without you. :(

Was so sorry to hear about Jim's passing. I was a classmate at St. Xavier H.S.. One of the nicest guys I have ever met. Hard working and diligent, always with a smile on his face. Even though we lost touch through the years, the world is just a little less bright knowing he has gone before us. He will be remembered and missed.
